three moments

Lunch with Doctor Barn. Discussing some court case that is at present obsessing the media. Daktari is bemused by my attitude.
"I just don't think they did it," sez I quietly.
On impulse the brother reaches across the table and shakes my hand.
"Heelers," sez he, "if the world ever turns against me, I want you in my corner."

Afternoon on main street. My feminist cousin Pauline approaches.
"Are you okay?" quoth she.
"I am," quoth I.
And suddenly she hugged me.

Evening in the garden of my father.
A tortoise shell butterfly lands on a bush in front of me and settles there, wings shivering in rejoice.
