how corrupt is the irish police force

We've had three doozies in the past week.

1. A police officer up in court for running an insurance racket.

2. A woman police officer stationed at Garda Head Quarters on Harcourt Street, Dublin, was caught using police privilege to gain access to mobile phone records in order to spy on a man she claims was her boyfriend. She also claims she suspected her "boyfriend" was having an affair with another woman. She has been moved to other duties. That is to say she has not been fired or punished in any way for her arrant corruption.
(Garda Head Quarters is of course no stranger to arrant corruption. The most dramatic event to take place there in recent years was the shooting dead of a police officer within the Head Quarters building. That is to say. it was the most dramatic event we know about. When investigating officers from the Ombudsman's Department who are charged with investigating police crime, arrived on the scene they were prevented from gaining access to the dead police officer's body or indeed to the Police Head Quarters building itself by police officers who had been in the vicinity when the shooting took place. There was a Mexican standoff, with Garda Head Quarters effectively under siege from Ombudsman officials wishing to investigate the shooting dead of a police officer which had just taken place there. When hours later the Ombudsman investigators were finally allowed access to the scene, one must presume anyone inclined to remove or alter evidence would have had ample time to do so. I believe the only feasible motive for the outrageous behaviour of members of the Irish police force in preventing access by investigating officers to the body of a man who had just been shot to death in the Police Head Quarters building, was to cover up a murder. The Irish police force concluded that the shooting death of a police officer in Irish Police Head Quarters had been a suicide. And if you believe that one, I have a bridge to sell you.)

3. A police officer was discovered charging rent to a family of indigents for the privilege of living in his garden shed. He has been dismissed from the police force.
